01.The Brief
Create a captivating and lively opening sequence that ignites excitement and anticipation for the upcoming MLB baseball season. This opener should instantly captivate viewers, conveying the intensity and energy of the game while also promoting brand recognition and building anticipation for the forthcoming season.
02.The Research
In our exploration for MLB, we delved into baseball footage and imagery to identify compelling elements. What resonated most were the moments of heightened anticipation within the game, inspiring us to center the entire opener around this sensation. Throughout this phase of the project, we delved into typography designs and pinpointed various hero moments to animate and bring to life.
03.The Design
In crafting the heightened moments, we extracted key elements from the game to narrate our story, encompassing the pitch, the swing, the hit, and culminating in the catch. Each moment was depicted through dynamically lit imagery, featuring close-ups of textures and copy to convey the excitement of the game.
04.The Animation
The animation phase was incredibly enjoyable as we tackled designing dynamic frames such as shattering a bat, ripping the glove, and orchestrating the pitch-to-player dynamics, among other elements. Additionally, we experimented with the copy, incorporating energetic glitch effects that we found to be engaging and entertaining.
05.Chef's Kiss
In this stage, all the final elements—including the CG renders, typography animation, and music—were brought together in the editing process. Here, we made all the necessary final tweaks to ensure the completion of the final output.
